Face of the Anhinga, originally uploaded by dkunzie.

It’s so hot here the birds are gasping for air! I haven’t done much shooting the past few days because it’s just to hot and it’s hard to breathe. This poor Anhinga was perched on the rail fence that wraps around the lake panting to cool down. Not much activity in the Largo Preserve today only a few new born Moorhens that were swimming around inside the marsh.

It was such a great pose I couldn’t resist. The detail in the original of the under side of his mouth came out perfect. Shot this with my Nikon D2H and the 500mm f/4.5 on a monopod. The monopod comes in real handy but the need for the perfect tripod is still high on my agenda.

This lens shoots way better than my Nikon 80-400mm vr. In fact I am selling it to probably get the 300 f/4. It just doesn’t perform well in the conditions I shoot in so out it goes.

Still working on setting up the gallery. I have been playing around with a couple of ideas as to how I want it set up to sell prints and stock images, so far I am leaning toward Cubecart that I have installed.
